A Talk by Professor Emeritus Nicholas Lovrich
based on his 1969–1970 UCLA doctoral research

San Pedro High graduate Nicholas Lovrich received his B.A. at Stanford
University and completed his doctoral degree at UCLA in Political Science.
His research focus was the patterns of civic engagement and political culture
found among San Pedro’s immigrant Italians and Croatians as well as among
the first and second generations of these ethnic groups.
Nicholas Lovrich is Regents Professor Emeritus and Claudius O. and Mary W.
Johnson Distinguished Professor of Political Science in the School of Politics,
Philosophy and Public Affairs at Washington State University, Pullman, WA.
He is also an affiliated researcher in the Department of Criminal Justice &
Criminology.
